    • Frequently Asked Questions

      Q: What is ashwagandha?

A: Ashwagandha (withania somnifera) is an herb commonly used in the Ayurvedic system of traditional Indian medicine.1 It is classified as an adaptogen and well-known for its powerful anti-stress, antioxidant and immunomodulatory properties, and used to enhance the body’s resilience to physical and mental stressors.2-6 The biologically active components in ashwagandha are withanolides, a family of plant steroids found in both the leaves and root of the plant.1

Q: Is the extract in this formula made from the root, the leaves, or both?

A: Whereas most ashwagandha products are produced solely from the root, this formula provides a unique blend of both leaves and roots of the Withania somnifera plant. Because different parts of the plants contain different concentrations of bioactive compounds, providing a combination of leaves and roots is thought to increase the bioactive diversity and potential health benefits of the extract.7

Q: How is the ashwagandha in this formula extracted?

A: The ashwagandha is extracted using a specialized, water-based extraction process and standardized to three key bioactive substances: withanolide glycosides (≥10%), oligosaccharides (≥32%) & withaferin A (≤0.5%).

Q: How do the particular bioactive substances in these gummies support health?

A: Withanolide glycosides support a healthy immune response and have been clinically shown to reduce everyday stress.8 Withaferin A is one of the most studied withanolides, and supports heart health, brain health, and a healthy immune response.9-14 Oligosaccharides are a type of carbohydrate that act as a carrier of withanolide glycosides, and are critical for normal cellular functions.15

Q: Why are vitamin C and D included in this formula?

A: Stress can elicit a variety of negative effects on the body’s immune system.16 Given their well-established benefits for immune health and fundamental roles in immune system function, vitamins C and D provide additional support for overall wellness by helping to mitigate the effects of stress and nutritional deficiency on immune health.

Q: Is it okay to take this product every day?

A: It is generally safe to consume these gummies daily; however, as with all supplements, you should speak with your health provider before starting an ashwagandha regimen. This is especially important for individuals taking medications for high blood pressure, blood sugar, or thyroid hormone function. Additionally, pregnant and lactating mothers should avoid taking ashwagandha.
